Travel light

There’s nothing worse than carrying heavy bags with you when you travel. Here are our top tips on how to travel light:
- If you plan to fly, check your airline’s baggage allowance. If your bag is too big or heavy, you may have to pay extra to take it with you.
- The best kind of luggage is small, light and durable. It should have long straps so it’s easy to carry and/or wheels so you can pull it behind you.
- Buy miniature toiletries such as toothpaste and deodorant and/or pour things like shampoo and shower gel from big bottles into small bottles, and take only the small bottles with you.
- If you’re going to a town or city and/or planning to stay in one place for a long time, you might want to buy toiletries and other things when you get there.
- Pack clothes that you can wear in many different situations and that you can wash in your hotel room or at a local laundromat.
- If you have to take a bulky coat or jacket, think about wearing it while you travel so you don’t have to carry it.
- Think about every item you plan to pack and whether you really need it. If you don’t need it, leave it at home.
- Don’t forget to leave space in your luggage for things you might buy on your trip.
