Where are you going for summer holidays? Now is the time to make plans! It's always fun to go someplace new. Something that isn't quite as much fun, though, is packing. Here are a few tips to make it easier.

How much should I bring?
Every airline has its own rules about how much luggage you can bring. Checking on this ahead of time can really pay off - if you have too many bags or your luggage weighs too much, it will cost extra.

Travel light. It's tempting to take everything but the kitchen sink, but you'll enjoy your vacation more if you don't have to carry 50 kilosof luggage with you!

What do I need?
Make sure you have the essentials: your passport, ticket, travel itinerary, and bank cards or cash. Then, even if you forget everything else, you'll still be OK.

Check the weather before you leave. Will you need tank tops or heavy sweaters? But be prepared for the unexpected too - and don't forget your umbrella!

Toiletries, like shampoo and toothpaste, can weigh a lot. It might make more sense to buy them when you get to your destination.

Will your hair dryer and mobile phone charger work at your destination? If you'll need an adaptor or converter, get it before you leave.

Carry it on or check it?
Valuables, like cameras, laptops, or jewellery should always be packed in your carry-on bag. That way they're safe, even if your luggage gets lost.

Since food and drink is usually very expensive at the airport, bring a few snacks along with you. An empty water bottle is a good idea, too - you can fill it up at a water fountain after going through security.

Put sharp items, like scissors, nail clippers, or pocket knives, in your checked luggage.

You can go through security faster if you put all liquids in your checked luggage.

If you're one of those people who hate to check their luggage, watch this video for tips about how to pack your bag so you can carry it on!

And finally...
Make sure you mark your luggage clearly with your name, address and phone number - just in case it ends up somewhere unexpected!
