Young burglar named America’s Most Wanted Teenage Bandit
03.01.2010
The US magazine Time has given 18-year-old Colton Harris-Moore the title of America’s Most Wanted Teenage Bandit. Colton grew up in a mobile home in Island County in the US state of Washington and has been in trouble with the police since he was eight. He has burglarized at least 50 houses in three states and has stolen a car, a boat and three small planes to escape from the police.
Now Colton is becoming famous. More than 13,000 people have joined his fan club on Facebook, people in Seattle are selling T-shirts with his picture that say ‘Fly, Colton, fly’ and the media are writing stories about him. Island County Sheriff Mark Brown doesn’t think this is a good idea. "I think it's wrong to sensationalize a criminal,” he told reporters. “I think we should be concentrating on capturing someone who has terrorized the people of my county." Colton has been running from the police for almost two years.
