US deports teen to Colombia by mistake
19.01.2012
A US teen has returned home after officials deported her to Colombia by mistake.
Jakadrien Lorece Turner, 15, ran away from her home in Dallas, Texas, in 2010 while her parents were getting a divorce. She got arrested for theft last April and told police that she was a 21-year-old Colombian woman called Tika Lanay Cortez. Officials then deported the teen to Colombia’s capital city of Bogota.
"How do you deport a teenager and send her to Colombia without a passport, without anything?" asks Jakadrien’s grandmother, Lorene Turner, who found out where the teen was after looking at her Facebook page. Officials have now returned Jakadrien to her US home and are investigating what happened.
