What's the coolest new word of 2009? According to the New Oxford American Dictionary, it's "unfriend". Unfriend is a verb that means to get rid of someone as a friend on a social-networking site. And in the modern world of Internet communication, unfriending someone can be a really serious thing to do. Facebook now has over 300 million users worldwide, so unfriend is already a well-known and popular word. Other words on the shortlist for word of the year were "intexticated" (a mix of intoxicated and texting) to describe someone who texts while driving, and "deleb", which describes a dead celebrity.
