Transgender teen becomes prom queen

A pupil who was born a boy has become a prom queen. Andii Viveros, 17, was born as Andrew but started living as a girl two years ago.
The transgender teen nominated herself for prom queen at her school, McFatter Technical High School in the town of Davie in Florida, and beat 14 other nominees to win the title. "I don't even remember what happened at that moment,” she told reporters. “They called my name and I was in total shock.”
Andii, who wears dresses and make-up to school, says she has been bullied for years for being different and that many pupils attacked her for nominating herself for prom queen. “I’ve filed bullying reports over and over again. People would call me faggot. People would write on my locker.”
She wanted to become a prom queen to show other transgender teens that things can get better.
