Half a million teens in the US didn't eat for 30 hours last weekend to collect money for people in Haiti who don’t have enough food. The teens are members of youth groups around the US. They were hoping to raise $12 million for the people of Haiti, where a big earthquake killed 200,000 people in January.
A youth pastor called Rev. Lee Tyson in Cincinnati in the US state of Ohio was expecting about 60 of the students he works with to take part in the fast. They drank during the fast but didn't eat anything. "Even with the minimum stomach pains, hopefully the students will experience a new appreciation for how many people are suffering," Rev. Tyson said.
The fast, organized by a charity called World Vision, will started on 27 February and ended the next day.
