Teens don't blog
15.02.2010
Blogging by teens has dropped by half over the last three years. That’s what researchers from a US research organization called The Pew Research Center found when they interviewed 800 people aged 12 to 17 by phone late last year.
The researchers found that 73% of teens who use the Internet take part in Facebook or another social networking site. Just 14% of them write a blog compared to 28% in 2006. And only 8% of them use Twitter, mostly because they think it’s too public.
Pew researcher Amanda Lenhart told reporters that teens today prefer writing short updates to longer reports. “There's been a move from MySpace, which put blogging front and centre, to Facebook, which doesn't have that,” she says.
