Teen wins $100,000 for schooling
A teen has won $100,000 in tuition for throwing a football. Josh Dawson, 18, beat thousands of teens who made a video for the Dr Pepper Million Dollar Tuition Giveaway explaining why they deserved a chance to compete for the tuition. His video earned him a place at a football-throwing contest.
A few years ago Josh’s dad lost his job, his mother found out she had cancer and he was bullied at school. “It was a bad year," says Josh. "But it inspired me to want to do something great and that meant helping kids. I wanted to look on the bright side of life. My mom told me to check out the contest and I watched a video of some of the past winners. I couldn’t get it out of my head."
The teen won the contest in Charlotte in North Carolina by throwing 18 footballs into a hole in 30 seconds. "This was just the best feeling. It was the most amazing weekend of my life." Now he is studying to be a teacher and plans to use the money he won to go to the best college possible. “I would like to teach elementary school or be an English teacher in high school."
