A teenage boy is the subject of a Pulitzer-winning project. US
journalist Craig Walker has won a Pulitzer Prize, which is the
world’s top journalism award, for his portrait of teenage army recruit
Ian Fisher. Craig took photos of Ian enlisting and training in the US
Army and working as a soldier in Iraq.
Craig won the Pulitzer Prize for feature photography. He has worked on big stories, including the Columbine High School shootings, which was the subject of journalist Michael Moore’s documentary Bowling for Columbine, and 9/11. He now works as a photographer for a US newspaper called the Denver Post.
His editor there, Greg Moore, told reporters, “Craig Walker did an outstanding job on a subject of great importance: Who are these young people putting their lives on the line to fight for our country? He really brought Ian’s story to life and we are grateful his work has been recognized for the Pulitzer Prize.”
