Teen couple run away together
Police were calling a missing teen couple a modern day Romeo and Juliet – but luckily they have returned safely to their families. Jackson Powell, 18, and Nicole Dones, 17, from Miami in Florida went to their prom last month and disappeared a few days later. They didn’t call, e-mail or text their family or friends for almost two weeks.
Many people believe the teens ran away together because their parents were discouraging them from going out. Nicole’s mother, Margie, told reporters, "We didn’t forbid our daughter from seeing Jackson. We just didn't want her to lose focus on school. Every day that passes without hearing from them is agony for us."
Jackson’s mother, Patricia, said, "No one's seen them and I think that's what scares me more than anything. They vanished. Where did they go?" His dad, Wayne, added, "This is a boyfriend and girlfriend who have run off together. It's tough to sleep. Your mind races about a lot of scenarios."
Police said that the teens didn't have any credit cards and would probably running out of money. Now that Jackson and Nicole are back, no one has said where exactly they went or why they ran away.
