Teen arrested for making list ranking girls
Police have arrested a 17-year-old guy for making a list ranking the appearance of 50 of his former female classmates.
The teen, who is not being named to protect his privacy, was a pupil at Oak Park and River Forest High School in Chicago until he was expelled earlier this year. He made a list that gave marks out of ten for girls' faces and marks out of five for their body parts. The list also gave the girls nicknames like The Designated Drunk and The Amazing Bisexual.
Police arrested the teen after he put the list on Facebook and handed out copies of it at the school, and charged him with misdemeanour disorderly conduct. Dale Jones is the father of one of the girls ranked in the list. He says the police should charge the teen with a more serious offence because the list upset so many people. “I’m hopeful they will consider additional charges as they gather more evidence.”
Teachers and pupils from the school have responded to the list by starting a campaign against sexism and selling T-shirts that say "Respect".
