Honest teens return £5,000 to owner
18.10.2011
What would you do if you found £5,000? Two teenagers had to ask themselves that question when they found a briefcase containing £5,000 in cash. Fortunately, they did the right thing and gave the money to the police.
The teens, Will Miles and Ryan McClory, both 17, found the briefcase on a bench at a bus station in their home city of Bath in England. It turned out a local man had taken the money out of his bank account to pay his son’s university fees, and then left it on the bench. The police returned the money to him and he called the teens to thank them.
Will told reporters, “We were a bit shocked when we saw all the money. We didn’t know exactly how much it was but we could tell it was a large amount. We knew someone would be missing it and so decided to take it to the police station.” Ryan said, “I was pleased when I got the phone call saying that the owner had the briefcase back. It was a lot of money to have lost.”
