Girl wears prom dress made of Starburst wrappers
13.05.2011
Tara Frey doesn't have to worry about anyone turning up to her prom wearing the same dress as her. The teen from River Falls in Wisconsin spent six years making her prom dress from Starburst wrappers, with help from her mum. “It's something different and we've been working on it for years so it's
worth it," says Tara.
She and her mother would buy 20 bags of Starbursts at a time, give the sweets to friends and ask them to bring back the wrappers. To make the dress, they folded the wrappers eight times, braided them together, added some glue and sewed them onto fabric. They also made matching bracelets, earrings, headband, shoes and a vest for Tara’s boyfriend.
The teen couldn’t believe it when she found out the theme of this year’s prom at her high school. “The theme is Candyland. We kind of lucked out on that one!”
