A girl corrects a Disney sign
It’s one second and two seconds. Everyone knows that – or do they? Millions of tourists had walked past a sign that read “1 seconds” at the Primeval Whirl ride at the Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, since it opened in 1999. But it took a little girl called Hannah Estes to report the grammatical mistake for the first time.
Hannah from Coleville in the US state of Texas was at the park with her family earlier this year when she saw the sign, which counts down the seconds to the ride. She told reporters, “I read it out loud and thought that doesn’t sound right. A singular number should never be used with a plural word.”
Hannah took a photo of the sign and sent it to the company. A short time later they wrote back, thanking Hannah for her letter and telling her they would correct the mistake right away.
