Massive earthquake and tsunami in Japan
Europe is waking up today to the news of a terrible earthquake that hit the coast of northern Japan, causing a tsunami with waves of more than 3.5 metres tall to flood the coast near the city of Sendai. The earthquake had a magnitude of 8.9, and now there are tsunami warnings for many countries on and islands in the Pacific Ocean, including Russia, Indonesia, Taiwan, the Phillipines, Guam, Papua New Guinea, Australia, New Zealand, the US state of Hawaii, Guatamala, El Salvador and Costa Rica.
People in the cities of Tokyo and Osaki felt the quake too, where at least 30 people have been reported injured, although nobody knows yet for sure how many may be dead or injured. There are also reports of large fires and mobile telephone services not working. The flood could be seen on live television, racing towards – and then over – land, carrying boats, cars, houses, trash and even fire.

Let's pray for all the people in Japan, Hawaii and the other lands. Sending them peace and love! <3
Unbelievable. I'm falling for the Japanese.
The force of water is just enormous...
This massive earthquake and tsunami killed thousands of people and millions of dollars worth of property has been devastated. Incidents involving nuclear energy plants and Congressional spending budget slashes make any new growth of the nuclear power industry unlikely. Nuclear power, though, is able to generate more power at lower cost than other methods, and putting the industry on ice would be a real shame.
