Anne Frank’s family not happy with new book
Teenager Anne Frank often wrote about a boy called Peter van Pels in her famous diary, best known as The Diary of Anne Frank.
Anne lived with Peter in a building in Amsterdam where their families were hiding from the Nazis in the Second World War. Now a writer called Sharon Dogar has written a book of fictional diaries by Peter called Annexed, which includes intimate scenes between him and Anne. It will be in shops in October.
Anne’s first cousin Buddy Elias has read an early copy of the book. Buddy, 84, played with Anne when they were children. He has told reporters, “Anne was not the child she is in this book." Both Anne and Peter were sent to concentration camps and died in their teens. “I also do not think that their terrible destiny should be used to invent some story," said Buddy.
