A teen marries a 112-year-old man

A teen girl has married one of the oldest men in the world. Safiya Abdulle, 17, married Ahmed Mohamed Dore, 112, in Galguduud, Somali, earlier this autumn. Ahmed, who already has two wives, told the British TV station the BBC that he’d wanted to marry Safiya for a long time but was waiting for her to grow up. He says, “I didn't force her but used my experience to convince her of my love. And then we agreed to marry.” Ahmed hopes to have children with his new wife. It’s normal for Muslim teens in Somalia to marry older men but not someone as old as Ahmed. He says he’s 112 years old although he can’t prove his age. Safiya hasn’t talked to the media but her family has said that she is “very happy with her new husband.”
