Three British teens rescued from a life raft
Three British teenagers are lucky to be alive after their ship capsized off the coast of Brazil last month. They and the 61 other people on the ship had to wait on a life raft in the middle of the ocean for 40 hours until a small plane found and rescued them.
The teens were part of a group of international students who had paid up to £25,000 each for a trip around the world. They were 320 kilometres off the coast of Brazil when a powerful storm capsized their ship. One of the British teens is 19-year-old Sarah Calascione from Kingston upon Thames in Surrey, England. She told reporters, "I didn't think we were going to be rescued. It was horrible. I had only been on the ship for a couple of weeks and this was supposed to be a five-month adventure. My dream disappeared in fifteen seconds."
Sarah is now back home in England and is planning to start studying history at Exeter University this September.
