Students write shoplifting guide
Many people are angry at a group of London students for writing a guide that tells people how to shoplift successfully.
The students from Queen Mary College at the University of London published the guide, called The Art of Shoplifting, in the university paper, The Paper. They then gave out 9,000 copies of the guide, which tells people how to steal from shops and what to do if they get caught.
Shop owners are angry at the students who run The Paper for writing the guide. Andrew Dodd of the British Retail Consortium told reporters, “This guide is extremely irresponsible, if not illegal. Everyone involved in it should be ashamed of themselves for encouraging people to steal from shops.”
However, the students say the guide is satirical and that nobody should take it seriously.
