Teacher trouble
09.11.2009
Teachers in Queensland, Australia, could get in big trouble for chatting to their students online. A new rule says teachers there are not allowed to talk to their pupils on Facebook, My Space and other social networking sites. And if they do, they could lose their pay for a month or even lose their jobs. The rule tells teachers, "If you use Internet social networks in your personal time you must make sure that the content is appropriate and private and that you restrict access to people who are not students." More than 30 teachers in Queensland have got in trouble for having unprofessional relationships with their pupils in the last three years. And eight of them were using things like the Internet and cell phones to talk to them.
