New luck with new strips
18.05.2009
The most famous rugby team in the world, the New Zealand All Blacks, hope that new uniforms will mean better luck on the pitch. The old, grey strips reminded too many people of the team's defeat in the 2007 Rugby World Cup. The new Adidas strips will be white and black, with a fern pattern across the front of the jerseys. The fern represents the silver tree fern, which can only be found in New Zealand and can grow as high as 10 metres. The fronds are often used on footpaths because their silver colour reflects light and helps people find their way in the dark. Will the new strips help the All Blacks find their way to the top of the winner's podium at the Rugby World Cup in 2011? "I'm just glad the shorts are not white," said player Joe Rokocoko.
