Amy Macdonald says this is the life!
Amy Macdonald
Amy Macdonald is one of the best things to come out of Scotland since haggis! And now the 21-year-old singer/songwriter from Glasgow is kicking up a storm in Europe. Amy started playing guitar after seeing the Scottish band Travis play at a big festival when she was 13. Soon she was writing her own songs and playing acoustic gigs. Last year, she released her first album, This is the Life, which has now sold over 2.5 million copies.

Hockey
"Look out! I've got too much soul for the
world!" sings singer Ben Grubin on "Too Fake" , the first single from Hockey's
debut album Mind Chaos. And if the band from
Portland, Oregon, keeps making music like this, they're going to be massive!
Their style is a mix of new wave, indie rock and catchy pop. The band formed in
2007 with Ben on vocals, Brian White on guitar, Jeremy Reynolds on bass and
Anthony Stassi on drums. (Photo: Pamela Littky)

The Dodos
It's psychedelic folk rock time! And for
once the band comes from the right place! The Dodos formed in 2006 in San
Francisco, the hometown of the hippie movement. The main band members are Meric
Long (singer/guitarist) and Logan Kroeber (drums). They released their first
album, Beware of the Maniacs, in 2007. Their
second album, Visitor, appeared last year. Check
out this fantastic band! Singles "Fools" and "Red and Purple" are a good place
to start! (Photo: V2/Coop)
