Mel Gibson returns to acting
“I felt like getting back in the saddle.”
Mel Gibson, actor
A saddle is something you use to ride a horse. So is Mel Gibson talking about horse riding here? No. People use the expression "back in the saddle" to talk about doing something that they have stopped doing for a while.
Mel Gibson was an actor for more than 25 years. But he stopped acting about seven years ago to direct two big films, The Passion of the Christ and Apocalypto. Then last year he started acting again. He stars in a new film called Edge of Darkness, in German cinemas in March. He told reporters the time was right for a comeback. "I'll go on as I always have," he says.
