Green Day say no to Wal-Mart

That was Billie Joe’s response to the retail chain Wal-Mart, who wanted Green Day to make a censored version of their album to sell in its stores. Wal-Mart is the biggest retail chain in the US but won’t sell albums with bad language or adult content. It refused to sell Green Day’s new album, 21st Century Breakdown, because some of the songs have bad words. Green Day refused to censor their album for Wal-Mart. The band’s decision doesn’t seem to have affected sales. Their new album has sold more than 215,000 copies since it was released in mid-May and is Number One in the US.
