Music star Wyclef Jean hopes to become the president of his home country, Haiti. The musician, best known for playing with the band The Fugees, is running for president there this year.
Wyclef has been helping his country to recover from last January's earthquake, which killed more than 250,000 people and left 1.5 million people homeless. He told Time magazine, “If not for the earthquake, I probably would have waited another ten years before doing this. I know now that Haiti can't wait another ten years for us to bring it into the 21st century."
The people of Haiti will elect their new president in late November. Since half the population is under 21, many Haitians are Wyclef fans.
