The Irish rock band U2 had the most successful North American tour of 2009, says the music magazine Pollstar. The four guys from Dublin played 20 shows in the US and Canada on their 360º Tour last year. They sold 1.3 million concert tickets for about $90 each, making a total of $123 million.
The Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band Reunion Tour was the second most successful tour in North America. It made $94.5 million. And Elton John and Billy Joel’s Face to Face Tour was the third most successful tour. It made $88 million.
The most successful tour ever was the Rollin Stone’s A Bigger Bang Tour. It lasted from August 2005 until August 2007 and made more than $550 million worldwide.
