Paranormal Activity is a horror hit

Ten years ago filmmakers made a horror film called The Blair Witch Project for $25,000. The film looked like a documentary about young people who go into a forest where an evil witch hunts and kills them. It was a huge hit and made $140 million. Now a man called Oren Peli has made a film called Paranormal Activity for $25,000. It also looks like a documentary and is about a couple who put a camera in their home to find out if it’s haunted. The film first played at a few cinemas in small towns. But then horror fans heard about it and went online to say they wanted to see it too. In early October the film started playing at big cinemas all over the US and made $7 million in its first weekend alone.

Many film critics are calling Paranormal Activity the scariest film of the year. What do you think?
