No Angels singer sorry for infecting a man with HIV
Nadja Benaissa, from the band No Angels, has admitted that she had unprotected sex with a man without telling him that she was HIV positive. Nadja is on trial in Darmstadt. She is charged with grievous bodily harm for infecting a man with HIV and attempted bodily harm for having sex with two other men, who were not infected.
The problem isn’t that Nadja was HIV positive but that she didn’t tell the men that she had the virus. The 28-year-old singer told the court last week, “I’m so sorry. When I was arrested, I realized that the way that I had dealt with the illness had been wrong. I had made a big mistake.” The man who Nadja infected told the singer in court, “You have caused a lot of suffering in the world.”
Nadja became a part of the girl band No Angels when they won the TV show Popstars in 2000. If she’s found guilty, she could go to jail for between six months and ten years.
