Katie Holmes wins $50 million for charity
15.05.2011
A magazine has to give $50 million to charity for lying about actress Katie Holmes. In January the US magazine Star published a story about Katie with the headline "Addiction Nightmare - Katie Drug Shocker". Katie sued the magazine for suggesting she was a drug addict and settled the case last week.
As compensation, the magazine has published an apology to Katie and is giving $50 million to Dizzy Feet Foundation, a charity that pays for dance classes for poor children. The apology said, "Star apologizes to Ms Holmes for any misperception and will be making a substantial donation to charity on Ms Holmes' behalf for any harm that we may have caused."
Katie told reporters she has accepted the apology. "With this dispute out of the way, I look forward to once again focusing on my family and career."
