Heidi the opossum to take part in Academy Awards
A famous opossum will take part in the coverage of this year’s Academy Awards.
Heidi is a cross-eyed opossum who grew up in an animal sanctuary in the US and moved to Leipzig Zoo in Germany last May. She became famous after a photo of her was in the German newspaper Bild and now has 300,000 fans on Facebook.
A video of Heidi will be on a popular TV show called Jimmy Kimmel Live! during coverage of this year’s Academy Awards, which millions of people watch every year. Leipzig Zoo director Joerg Junhold says the money Heidi makes for her appearance will go to a charity that helps animals.
This year's Academy Awards will be on 27 February. Heidi and her sister, Naira, live in quarantine at Leipzig Zoo. Here’s a video of Heidi that a fan made:
