Green Day’s American Idiot is going to Broadway
13.01.2010
A musical play by the punk rock band Green Day will soon be on at the theatre capital of the world. The musical, American Idiot, is based on the band’s 2004 hit album of the same name. It doesn’t include the band members but does include many of their songs.
The play was a huge success last year when it was on for two months in Berkeley, in the US state of California. And now it’s moving to Broadway in New York, which many people call the theatre capital of the world.
Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong helped to write the play, about three young men on a journey to the Middle East. He told reporters, “Experiencing American Idiot on stage in Berkeley was incredible. We’re so proud that the show is coming to Broadway.” The play will start on Broadway in late March.
