Film about young Barack Obama opens
The world’s most powerful man was once like any other boy. That’s the message of a new Indonesian film about US president Barack Obama called Obama Anak Menteng or in English, Obama the Menteng Kid. Barack lived in Indonesia for four years when he was a boy. The film is a fictionalized story about his time there, based on a book of the same name.
Hasan Farooq Ali, 14, plays Barack in the film. He says, “I’d really like it if the president watched the film. I just hope it brings him back good memories.” The film was made in one month, cost one million dollars and is in the Indonesian language. It opened in the Indonesian city of Jakarta last week.
