Adele is UK’s top music influence

British singer Adele is one of the world’s most powerful stars. The 23-year-old has topped a list of the UK’s 100 most influential people in the music industry. Music manager Cerne Canning, who helped make the list for the British newspaper The Guardian, told reporters, “Adele is the most powerful force in music at the moment."

Adele, who became famous in 2008, has won two Grammy Awards and been at the top of the UK charts with her second album, 21, for longer than any other female singer. Her success has made her one of the richest young stars in the UK. “The whole message with her is that it's just music,” says Richard Russell from her record label, XL. “There are no gimmicks. There's no selling of sexuality.”

Others on the list include the people who run the record label Universal Music Group, at number two, and music executive Simon Cowell, at number three.
