There’s something wrong with Esther (Isabelle Fuhrman). The nine-year-old orphan wears strange clothes and doesn’t play with other children. But when Kate (Vera Farmiga) and John meet her, they think she’s smart and sweet and decide to adopt her. At first everything is great. But then bad things start happening to people around them, including their other two children. Kate tries to tell John that Esther is evil. But he doesn’t believe her until it’s too late.
