OneRepublic love telling secrets
Is it rock? Is it pop? Is it hip-hop? The US band OneRepublic say their music doesn’t belong to any one genre.
Singer Ryan Tedder started the band with guitarist Zach Filkins when they were teens together at school in Colorado about 15 years ago. He says, “We're no respecter of genre. If it’s a good song or a good artist, whether rock, pop, indie or hip hop, it’s probably influenced us on some level."
OneRepublic released their second album, Waking Up, last November. Their new song “Secrets” is on the soundtrack for the German film Zweiohrküken and is in this year’s Disney film The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.
“Secrets” is the second single from Waking Up
‘Til all my sleeves are stained red
From all the truth that I’ve said…
Don’t need another perfect line
Don’t care if critics ever jump in line
OneRepublic don’t just write songs that they think their fans will like. They write songs that tell the truth, even if nobody likes them. They use music to say how they really feel about the world. Sometimes it hurts to be honest.
