K’naan waves a flag for freedom
K’naan grew up in a war and sings about freedom. The singer grew up in a civil war in Somalia in Africa. He moved to the US when he was 13 and now lives in Toronto in Canada.
His new song “Wavin’ Flag” became the Coca-Cola anthem
at this year’s World Cup in South Africa. K’naan sings different
versions of the song using English with other languages, including
Spanish, Arabic and Portuguese.
“Wavin’ Flag” is the third single from K’naan’s second album, Troubadour
So many wars, settling scores
Bringing us promises, leaving us poor…
When I get older I will be stronger
They’ll call me freedom just like a wavin’ flag
A
waving flag can be a symbol of freedom. People are always fighting for
freedom but they’re also fighting each other. They say war will make
everything better but it never does. One day in the future we’ll become
stronger and then everyone will be free.
