Millions of people love the music of Shawn Corey Carter and don’t even know it. That’s because they know Shawn only as Jay-Z. Jay-Z is one of the world’s most successful hip-hop stars and is married to another huge star, actress and singer Beyoncé Knowles. Jay-Z has sold more than 40 million albums. He is releasing his eleventh studio album, The Blueprint 3, in September.

Many people say life is a game and that everyone is competing to become the richest and most powerful. Here Jay-Z compares life to a game of cards. Every game has rules but sometimes people break the rules so they can win. Jay-Z is ready to break the rules so he can win the most money, which he calls "dough". He says the other team should throw their hand in, meaning they should give up on the game because they can’t possibly win.
