It’s wedding bell blues for Glee
Songs that were famous decades ago are back in the charts, all thanks to a TV show called Glee.
The cast of Glee, a show about a high-school musical club, sing covers of old and new hits on the series, and then release these covers. They have sold more than 36 million singles and 11 million albums since the show started in 2009.
Glee have just released “Wedding Bell Blues”, which was a hit song by the band The 5th Dimension in 1969.
Oh but am I ever gonna hear my wedding bells
I was the one who came runnin’ when you were lonely…
But kisses and love won’t carry me
‘Till you marry me, Will I love you so
This song made famous the phrase wedding bell blues. If you have the blues, it means you feel sad. And if you have wedding bell blues, you feel sad either because you’re nervous about your wedding or because you’re afraid you’ll never have a wedding.
The singer of this song is afraid she’ll never have a wedding. She knows her boyfriend loves her but she’s beginning to wonder if he’s ever going to marry her.
