Are these Rejects giving you hell?
Oklahoma rockers The All-American Rejects have made it big with their latest single "Gives You Hell". The band got together in the late 1990s and released their first self-titled album in 2002. They followed this with Move Along in 2005 and When The World Comes Down in 2008. Last year, singer Tyson Ritter appeared in the movie The House Bunny with actress Anna Faris.
"Gives You Hell" from When The World Comes Down
When you see my face ...
When you walk my way, hope it gives you hell
I've never seen you fall so hard ...
Now you'll never see what you've done to me
The expression "to give someone hell" means to make someone suffer in some way. This song is about someone whose girlfriend has left him. He thinks she lied to him and treated him badly. But now he's doing really well, and the girl's life isn't good at all. Because he feels bitter about the break-up, he hopes that whenever the girl sees him, she'll notice that he's having such a great life without her. He knows she's having problems, but he'll never let her see how much she hurt him.
