Amy Macdonald is more than a pretty face
A Scottish girl who taught herself to play music is selling out concerts all over Europe. Amy Macdonald, 23, started doing gigs around Glasgow when she was just 15 and got her big break after she sent a demo tape to a production company called Melodramatic Records.
She released her first album, This Is the Life, in 2007 and her second album, A Curious Thing, earlier this year. Tens of thousands of fans have bought tickets to see Amy on her Euoprean tour, called The Love Love Tour, which includes concerts in the UK, Germany and Switzerland.
“This Pretty Face” is the third single from A Curious Thing
All this beauty is skin-deep…
What happened to believing that beauty’s in the eye of the beholder…
Down, down, I’ll meet you on the ground…
This pretty face don’t work no more
Amy uses two popular proverbs about beauty in this song. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" means that what one person finds beautiful may be different to what someone else finds beautiful. "Beauty is only skin-deep" means that just because someone is beautiful on the outside doesn’t mean they are beautiful on the inside. Beauty on the outside fades as you get older but beauty on the inside lasts forever.
