Penfriends

This site is for girls only. Girls ages 7 to 17 from all around the world, but mostly from the US, use the web site to look for young penfriends. This is not a free service, so make sure your mum or dad helps you if you want to register. Circle of Friends uses a system where only the computer knows your e-mail address and the e-mail address of your e-pal.

This is a French organization, but you can use the website in English, French or Spanish. With this website, you can look for pen friends based on hobbies, interests, language and country. Students of the World is free to use, though if you only want pen friends to write real letters to, you might have to pay for that service.

Here you can find groups of pupils who are looking for e-pals to write to. There are over 65,000 kids from 191 countries! If you're under 18, only your parents or your teacher can sign you up, but if your whole class is looking to connect with pupils in other countries, this could be a good site for you. And it's all free.

The Student Letter Exchange started matching pen friends in 1936 and today has 500,000 members in over 100 countries. It's free to sign up for pupils and students between the ages of 8 and 23 who do not live in the US and who want to write in English.

The Deutsche Post has a great, free free pen-pal service called Letternet. It's easy to use and has more than 250,000 members from over 100 countries.

This organization has services in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Portugese. For 16-22 euros, IPF can help you find an English-speaker to write letters to. However, they don't do e-pals.
