The world of Tim Burton
24.10.2011
Last week I was at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) to meet my favourite actor, Johnny Depp. This week I returned there to experience the world of my favourite director, Tim Burton, at an exhibition of his life and work.
The exhibition included more than 700 drawings, paintings, photographs, costumes, puppets, and much more. There were TVs showing films Tim made as a teenager while growing up in Burbank in California and lots of his early drawings and stories. It was amazing to see how his art and vision developed over the years into something truly amazing.
As you probably know, Tim Burton often works with Johnny Depp, which made the exhibition extra exciting for me. I loved seeing exhibits from the films they’ve made together, including the angora sweater from Ed Wood, the black leather costume Johnny wears when we first see him in Edward Scissorhands and early sketches of the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland.
The exhibition will end on 31 October but may open in other cities in the future. Watch this fun video tour a teen made of the exhibition:
