Sleepless in Munich
We all find it hard to sleep sometimes. Either you can't get to sleep at all, or you wake up in the middle of the night and can't go back to sleep.
Last night, for some reason, I woke up at around 4 a.m. and stayed awake for two hours. Of course, when my alarm went off this morning, I could have slept for the rest of the morning. Why is that? I call it the "can't sleep until it's almost time to get up" phenomenon. :-)
Do you have any tips for getting to sleep? I find that reading helps me drop off, as it makes my eye lids get heavy. But only sometimes. Other times I have to get up and make myself a cup of fruit tea. Warm milk with honey is also meant to help. But last night, I did something I hadn't done for a while - I counted sheep! And that reminded me of a scene from one of my favourite television programmes when I was a teenager - Sesame Street - with the characters Bert and Ernie.
I found the scene this morning on YouTube (see below). It's pretty funny, so thinking about it at 4 a.m. this morning made me giggle. That, of course, didn't help me get to sleep at all! Well, at least until it was almost time to get up.
I hope I sleep tight tonight!
