Johnny Depp came to me
Usually, you have to travel a long way to see your favourite movie stars. But last month, some of Hollywood's biggest names came to me. I live in Westwood, where the Los Angeles Film Festival takes place every year.
Westwood is in west LA and has lots of vintage movie theatres. During the festival, more than 80,000 people come here from
all over the world. They get the chance to watch about 100 feature films, 100 short films and 50 music videos from 40 different countries.
Then they decide which films should win an award.
This year, I watched a documentary called Paper Heart – which is about finding true love. And I saw a short film called 2 Birds, about teens growing up. And one night, I watched the 1984 classic film Ghostbusters at an open-air cinema. It was so much fun to watch four men fighting ghosts under the stars.
The
most exciting day of the festival was last Tuesday, 23 June. That's the
day my favourite movie star, Johnny Depp, came to town. He and
Christian Bale went to the Mann Village Theater for the premier of their new film, Public Enemies.
Thousands
of people stood behind barriers all around the cinema and waited hours
to see the two stars. Parking in the area cost four times the usual price. Many streets
were blocked off, and there were police everywhere. I didn't get a
chance to speak to Johnny – but at least I saw him on the red
carpet smiling and waving to his fans.
