It's not just my heart that's jetlagged!
Do you know that Simple Plan song "Jet Lag"? I've been hearing it on the radio pretty regularly the last few months – but I never really paid it all that much attention.
But then I listened to it the other morning, and it was like I was hearing the song for the first time.
I just got back from a two-week holiday in Arizona. That's a nine-hour time difference, and it was the first time I've heard the song "Jet Lag", while – you guessed it – suffering from jet lag.
You say good morning
when it's midnight
Exactly. I woke up that morning cursing my existence. It was morning just when my body wanted nothing more than to curl up for the night. If you've ever travelled across more than one or two time-zones, you probably know, it's really no fun fighting your body's internal clock.
I wake up to your sunset
It's driving me mad
I miss you so bad
Yes, this song is actually about the many ways in which long-distance romance can drive you crazy. And it's true, I left my guy in Arizona for another few weeks, so my heart is a little bit jet-lagged. But I think I'll notice the heart jet lag a lot more once my body has figured out the correct time.
They say your internal clock needs about one day for every hour of time difference to re-set and recover. So I'll get back to you at the end of next week, when my sunrise actually is my sunrise.
