Inside Harry Potter’s world
14.06.2010
Have you ever wanted to step into a book and live inside its pages? I’ve always wanted to step into the magical world of Harry Potter. So I was really excited to visit Whimsic Alley, which is like a real-life Diagon Alley, the place where witches and wizards go to shop in Harry’s world.
Whimsic Alley is in a big building in Downtown Los Angeles. It has a wand shop, a bookshop, a clothes shop and a sweet shop. You can buy robes, hats and scarves like the ones Harry and his friends wear. Or you can buy the sweets they eat like Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans. The bag I got has beans that taste like pepper, cheese and onion. Gross!
My favourite shop is the wand shop because it looks so like the one in the books and films. I almost expected the boxes to fly off the shelves – like they do when Harry tries to buy his first wand. I didn’t buy a wand but I did buy a blue feather quill and a silver inkwell, which I just love.
At the back of the building is a big banquet hall with candles hanging from the ceiling. You can go there and have a party with your friends, dressing up in robes and eating sweets. I know where I’ll be spending my next birthday!
