I spent half my holiday money on the plane!
I
just flew from Los Angeles to New York City and back again with Virgin
America for a short holiday. After I came home I realized I'd spent
almost as much on the plane as I did in the city. When I fly to Europe,
food and films are included in the airfare. But on this trip I had to pay extra for everything.
It
all started when I arrived at the airport and found out I’d have to pay
$25 to check in one suit case – and another $25 to fly it back. It’s a
good thing I didn’t take too much with me because if your bag weighs
over seven kilograms, you have to pay an extra $50.
Everyone had their own screen on the plane, which we could use to order whatever we wanted and for entertainment. It takes about five hours to fly from LA to New York but the only things you get for free are water and soda. I spent about $15 on a sandwich, snacks and an energy drink.
You can watch TV, listen to music or play video games for free. But you have to pay about $8 to watch a film. There were 25 films to choose from and I watched three films on each flight. I also bought wifi so I could go online on my laptop and that cost another $13.
Being on a plane can be a fun experience but it can also be an expensive one. Next time I’m going to take my own food and films so I don’t spend quite so much!
