Harry Potter rocks!
Harry Potter bands, Wizard Rock, call it what you want. But it's a completely new genre in music and I have no idea how to feel about it. Maybe you already know about this but it's still pretty underground. The basic idea involves musicians dressing up as characters from the Harry Potter books and films and singing songs about, you guessed it, Harry Potter. And that's all they do. It's not just one or two songs, it's every song!
The band that started all this madness is Harry and the Potters from Massachusetts in the US. Since 2002, brothers Joe and Paul DeGeorge have been playing Harry Potter songs with titles like "Save Ginny Weasley", "My Teacher is a Werewolf" and "Voldemort Can't Stop the Rock!" Somehow they have become very successful. And other bands have started copying them! There are now groups with names like Draco & the Malfoys , The Whomping Willows and The Remus Lupins .
This is probably the first time ever that a book or film has created a whole genre in music. I don't see any Hobbit rock bands or Star Wars rappers, do you? Nope, this is ground breaking. But should we be scared? Or happy? Or just amused? I've no idea, but these are real bands with real fans who all take this music very seriously and who really enjoy it. And that can't be a bad thing. So what's it like? Check out the links and see what you think!

Hey Owen,
I don't know what to think of this phenomenon either. It is indeed rare, but it isn't the first time a book or film has created a whole genre in music. Warp 11 has been around for several years. The group sings only about Star Trek.
