Did they really say that?
I have a confession to make. I love celebrity gossip. I watch the programme Prominent on VOX when I can. I read the magazine Bunte. And whenever I'm in England I read British equivalents, like OK!, Hello and Now! magazines. I'm fascinated by celebrities and the way they behave.
While a few people become famous against their will because of an outrageous amount of talent, I think in most cases it takes a certain type of person to become a celebrity - a person with relentless ambition and a (sometimes unhealthy) need to be in the limelight.
So for these people I have little sympathy when they say silly things. In fact, I love it!
The other day I came across an adorable link on the Guardian website with lots of funny celebrity quotes. It's called "Did I say that?" and some of the examples are so funny that I had to share them with you. :-)
Some of the celebrities are trying to be funny deliberately. But others seem to be dead serious. See if you can spot which ones are which.
"I definitely want him to be christened, but I don't know into what religion yet"
David Beckham, talking about his son Brooklyn in 1999.
"Clearly Einstein and I have so much in common."

"They are building schools for the Afghan children, so there is hope in our neighbouring country of Afghanistan."

"I've never really wanted to go to Japan, simply because I don't like eating fish and I know that's very popular out there in Africa."

Noel Gallagher, of the former band Oasis, commenting on his brother Liam.

The modest footballer Christiano Ronaldo in 2009, asked who the best-looking player was at Manchester United.

Former Oasis singer Liam Gallagher on Oasis's attempts to be successful in the US.
